Dean’s Letter – December 2023
Dear Friends, My phone buzzed. I really didn’t want to look. I knew what it would say. Rally Kid Caroline, after fighting brain cancer for 10 years, was now pain free shining brightly in heaven. Caroline shines brightly in our hearts, too. I miss that spunky mature-beyond-her-years kid. She epitomizes Rally’s mission. She spoke at Rally signature events and at corporate sponsor events. Together we advocated in Washington, D.C. for more federal funding for childhood cancer research. Rally Kid Ailani, who is fighting cancer for the sixth time and is currently on a treatment made possible by Rally funding, has also advocated with me in D.C. Her mom is retired from the Navy after more than 20 years of service and her dad is currently serving. I am thrilled to share that our advocacy work with the Department of Defense (DOD) is going well. In the past six years, the DOD Medical Research...
Rally to the Capitol
Hi Amazing Advocates, At CureFest we had to pivot because of the weather and had an indoor Rally to the Capitol. We asked more than 190 advocates to give us the top three childhood cancer priorities that they would share with the Biden Cancer Moonshot. We are happy to share the results with you. I had the opportunity to share the results with the Biden Cancer Moonshot last week. They were very interested. They have a strong interest in expediting clinical trials, which is great. Thank you again for sharing your top three priorities for the Biden Moonshot. Your voices matter! Also thank you for all the videos for Gabriella Miller 2.0. We are happy to report that Gabriella Miller 2.0 has been introduced in the House and Senate. Now we are waiting for the House and Senate to vote on the bill. After each bill passes the respective House or Senate, a conference committee will be appointed...

A Heartfelt Note of Thanks to Clarke and Kevin Byard of the Tennessee Titans
Dear Clarke and Kevin, I first had the pleasure of meeting you at our 2017 Rally On the Runway. At that time Jurrell Casey and his wife Ryann were our Honorary Chairs. You had already spent time with our Rally Kids, and Jurrell could see that you were ready to jump on board in a bigger way. Before he left the Titans and went on to play for the Denver Broncos in 2021, you were the ones to whom he knew he could pass the “Rally Torch.” Thus began our good fortune to get to know both of you better and continue to Rally On with the Tennessee Titans for kids with cancer. The awful year of Covid closed down the world and forced Rally to rethink how we could continue to raise awareness and funds for children with cancer. Kevin, you rose to the occasion when we spent a few hours videoing narrations for a virtual Rally On the Runway…it seemed like every time we had a perfect take, the train...

Rally Awards Outside the Box Grants
Rally Awards Novel Grants to Three Childhood Cancer Researchers Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research (“Rally”) awarded $150,000 to three researchers at three different institutions for Outside the Box novel childhood cancer research ideas. “Rally sees itself as philanthropic seed investors in the next great discovery — we like to invest early and are willing to take risks because these Outside the Box ideas may pave the way to finding better treatments and cures,” says Dean Crowe, Founder and CEO. Each grant was dual peer-reviewed and only the highest scoring applications received funding. Rally is pleased to partner with Kids Join The Fight and cureMEC for this year’s competition. These Outside the Box Grants provide seed funding to three researchers for brand new ideas that directly address pediatric, adolescent and young adult brain cancer or myoepithelial carcinoma. ...
