Ruby was diagnosed with an optic pathway tumor in 2020 in a somewhat accidental way. Ruby was born with a large birth mark on her stomach and her parents were a bit concerned. They took her to the doctor because they believed it could be a genetic condition. After genetic testing, countless trips back and forth to the doctor, and months of waiting for results, their neurologist decided to do an MRI where a tumor was discovered.
