While on vacation in July of 2021, Knox was putting on sunscreen when his mother noticed a rash all over his body. Luckily, they had friends in the medical field who knew the rash was petechiae, which is when blood vessels break under the skin. This is a common issue associated with leukemia, so they took him to the closest ER. After blood work was done, Knox was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
