Levi’s Cancer Journey
Levi Rhett Lansdell is 3 years old with beautiful brown eyes, gorgeous blonde curls (soon to be making a comeback) and a smile that is a certified heart melter. If you have spent anytime walking the halls of CHOA Scottish Rite than you may have been nearly ran over by Batman on a balance bike or heard his jam sessions with the staff in the library (sorry for anyone trying to read). You also might have seen him playing kick ball outside (regardless of weather conditions) or standing in line at the grill waiting for a hotdog and fries. Levi is usually the first kid to arrive at the Zone and always one of the last to leave. If it wasn’t for the bald head, you certainly would never be able to tell by Levi’s attitude that he was fighting a major battle on the inside.
Levi was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on August 10, 2022. A parents worse nightmare.. Levi spent most everyday since diagnosed on the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disease floor at Scottish Rite, with the exceptions of a few short weeks at home in between treatments. Levi had his share of tough days, but he responded favorably to the treatment prescribed by Dr. Pauly and her team of healers. Levi successfully completed 5 rounds of chemotherapy inpatient at Scottish Rite. Levi is championed on by his friends and family back in his hometown of Armuchee, G.A. Armuchee is one of those special little places that Georgia is so well known for where they take care of their own. Although Levi was separated from some of those people closest to him during his journey, he was in no shortage of quality relationships here at Scottish Rite. Levi made numerous friendships with other patients at the hospital and has stolen the hearts of many of the Aflac Center’s nurses, who he affectionately refers to as his girlfriends (although Mama is still his #1 gal). Levi became a staple of the 5th floor and is their official/unofficial mascot. Levi achieved remission status on March 9th of this year, and currently returns to Scottish Rite once monthly for checkups.
