St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Assistant Member

Dr. Guenther is an Assistant Member in the Division of Molecular Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she is a physician-scientist who specializes in the care of patients with solid tumor malignancies. Her laboratory focuses on utilizing chemical and genomics screening modalities to identify critical survival genes in pediatric bone sarcomas, with a particular focus on osteosarcoma. One particular interest of the Guenther Lab is to understand the way that osteosarcoma cells repair their damaged DNA, and how to manipulate this process for cancer therapy. The Guenther Lab’s ultimate goal is to translate pre-clinical findings into novel targeted treatment strategies, leading to improved clinical outcomes for children with these devastating malignancies.

Dr. Guenther received her MD from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and completed her General Pediatrics Residency and Fellowship in PediatricHematology/Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
