Volunteers are the heart of Rally's mission!
Evan was diagnosed on June 29, 2023 with B-cell ALL. He had never even been sick before other than an ear infection. He started napping on the floor out of no where but summer just started and we have been on the go constantly so I just figured that he was a little extra tired. At the same time he started running a low grade fever just in the AM. Of course I assumed teething or maybe just a virus he was trying to kick. On day 7, I brought him to the pediatrician who decided that he should go for a blood test. She suggested CHOA over the usual labcorp so we headed to downtown ATL. We have not been home since. Within 20 minutes of leaving the lab we were called by the pediatrician who told us to turn around and immediately go to the ER who would be waiting. By the time the diagnosis was confirmed for leukemia and we got Evan into the PICU his hemoglobin was down to a 2. It was the single worst day of my entire life.
We have rallied around Evan with the support of friends and family. We will fight and we will win.
That is Evans story- at least the beginning!
