Charlotte’s Cancer Journey

Charlotte was struggling in March and April 2022 with vomiting, vertigo and balance issues. She was diagnosed with an ear infection that lasted a month and once that finally cleared up and her symptoms did not, imaging was finally done which found a large brain tumor. She underwent an urgent 8-10 hour surgery to resect as much tumor as possible and spent 2 weeks at Vanderbilt. Upon discharge, she and her mom moved to Memphis for 9 weeks to undergo proton radiation treatments where Charlotte was sedated daily for 30 treatments. She had full days of PT, OT, ST and underwent another surgery in Memphis to help with swallowing issues related to her tumor/resection. Today, Charlotte is a spunky 3 year old that loves swimming, animals, and playing with her sister. Charlotte’s scans show that she is stable and she will continue to have routine scans every 3 months.
