How Rally West Started

After spending four years working at Rally Foundation’s headquarters in Atlanta, Emma Strong relocated to Utah and continued her work with Rally remotely. As she began connecting with local childhood cancer families, she quickly realized that while the need for support was great, Rally’s presence in the Mountain West was limited.

Through relationships with families like Rally Kid Savannah, Rally Kid Brielle, Rally Kid McKay, and many others, Emma witnessed firsthand the unique challenges families across the region face while navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis. Many traveled long distances for treatment, often leaving behind their support systems and facing financial and emotional burdens that extended far beyond the hospital walls. It became clear that more could be done to ensure these families had both the practical support and community they deserved.

In 2023, Rally West was born with a mission to bring Rally Foundation’s research funding and family support programs to children and families throughout the Mountain West. Since its founding, Rally West has grown into a trusted resource for families across Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, and Montana.

Today, Rally West partners with hospitals, businesses, schools, and community members to advance Rally’s mission of finding better treatments with fewer long-term side effects while supporting families during their childhood cancer journey. Through programs like Rally Good Meals, regular snack and comfort item deliveries to pediatric oncology units, family events, advocacy initiatives, and emergency financial assistance, Rally West ensures families know they are never alone.

The impact of Rally West continues to grow thanks to generous community partners, including Larry H. Miller Dealerships, Merit Medical, Shake Shack, Thirst Drinks, and many others who have joined Rally in changing the future for children with cancer throughout the Mountain West.
