Project Description

Maia went through weeks of being in pain before she was diagnosed. We saw many doctors and specialists but no one could determine the cause of her pain. She collapsed one night in her bedroom and couldn’t get up. She was rushed to the hospital and that’s where she was diagnosed with cancer. She was 8 years old. Mais was a true warrior and inspiration throughout her 2 1/2 years of treatment. she attend school after her spinal taps, she continued to participate in activities such as karate with her sisters, and she continued to smile. We did have our hard times as you can imagine, but she and the rest of the family survived. Never thought we would have to do it again. Now, her younger sister has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Maia is thriving at college with a few lasting effects left from her cancer journey.
