n March of 2014, Lauren and her two sisters had a yucky stomach bug. Lauren’s sisters got better after 24 hours, but Lauren’s “bug” seemed to linger. Thinking she was dehydrated, her pediatrician recommended that we take her to the ER for IV fluids. While in the ER, Lauren told the doctor that she had a headache that wouldn’t go away. “Just to be safe” the doctor decided to do a CT scan, and much to her family’s surprise, a tumor was found. Lauren underwent brain surgery the next morning to remove the tumor. After several more surgeries to prepare for treatment, Lauren began a 51-week treatment protocol for ATRT, which included radiation and chemotherapy. Lauren loves American Girl dolls, puppies, crafts, piano, playing on her iPad and Disney movies.
