Kyrian was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on Dec 8, 2013. He was 8 years old. He went through treatment on a Very High Risk protocol due to a gene mutation and a positive MRD after. He handled everything like a champ. He endured a few set back such as pneumonia. and Veno-occlusive disease of the liver, but eventually made it to maintenance. Life sort of got back to normal and Kyrian went back to school and was back on the soccer field. Then, shortly after Thanksgiving of 2015 his routine blood work revealed VERY low counts. This continued for a few weeks and our oncologist suggested that we do a Bone Marrow Biopsy to “rule out” relapse. One Dec. 5, 2015 we heard the only words that scared us more than his original diagnosis, “the cancer is back”. On Dec. 8, exactly 2 years from his original diagnosis, we headed to Oklahoma City to out new hospital. Kyrian is currently undergoing chemo to achieve remission so we can proceed to his Stem Cell transplant. Kyrian continues to fight like a champion and keeps everyone laughing! Kyrian loves soccer and video games.
