Kayla was a normal, happy, horse crazy girl until she started having headaches at the beginning of 2013. The headaches were followed with nausea and on January 25, 2013 she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor. That evening she had to have surgery to relieve the pressure in her brain and on the 28th had an 8 hour brain surgery to remove the tumor from her brain stem. Surgery was successful at removing the entire tumor and the tumor was biopsied and found to be malignant. After a few weeks recovering from surgery she went to Florida for 6 weeks of Proton radiation and is now enduring a year of chemo treatments.
