Caroline was diagnosed on Feb. 4, 2017 with a brain tumor called Anaplastic Ependymoma. Her family was told that if she survived surgery, she’d likely be paralyzed on her left side and blind. Her neurosurgeon was able to remove the entire tumor. Caroline successfully came through the surgery with no issues, which the doctors said was truly a miracle. She then traveled to Jacksonville, FL for two months where she received Proton Radiation. She returned home and resumed her daily life going to preschool and playing with her friends and two older brothers.
She has scans every 3 months. On her second scan, 6 months following coming home from Jax, another tumor was discovered. She had surgery again to remove the new tumor and again the neurosurgeon was able to remove the entire tumor. In June 2018 her scans showed that the inflammation had decreased and no new spots had appeared.
